Preschool Summer Camp-Let's go Fishing (Week 4)

Time got a little bit away from me and I haven't been staying on top of the Blog like I have wanted to lately.  I am playing a bit of catch up.
This week was a fun week, but it was a rainy week.  We spent a good portion of our preschool play days indoors.  But that's ok we STILL had a ton of fun.  We did obstacle courses, we danced, and we even did the parachute!  Our obstacle course was full of physical AND educational activities.
The theme this week was Let's go fishing, so what better craft to do than a fish on a fishing pole.  The kids LOVED this craft activity.  We decorated our fishies with stickers, paint dots, and colored it with markers.  Attached to a milkshake straw and yarn, and it made the perfect fish on a fishing pole.

We did so much learning and playing!
Our preschoolers had a great time playing this homemade fishing game.  Some pipe cleaner bent into a fishy shape, a dowel rod with pipe cleaner and magnets attached.  We practiced counting, matching colors, and listening for directions.

Another cute fish craft that we did.

Fish puppets made from our hands!
It was a great week!!!

Preschool Summer Camp Week #3 Teddy Bear Picnic

This was a fun week!  Teddy Bear Picnic week.  We had several friends bring bears and other stuffed animals to join us for our daily activities.  They had picnics, sang songs, colored, and hand fun with friends.

On Thursday we made a bear snack.  It was a bear cookie.  I would say it was a hit!

We are so blessed with 3 great teachers in our class everyday!
Ms. Cammy, Ms. Deborah, and Ms. Eevie are so happy to be a part of your child's learning journey!

SPACE- Summer Camp Week #2 & FREEBIE

Grab the free SPACE 10 Frames below!

This week was all about SPACE!  We just completed week number 2 of preschool summer camp.  This week was busy!  We are all adjusting well to our routine and enjoying our daily activities.  This week we made a lot of space crafts, played a lot of space games, and we definitely enjoyed the 2 days of splash days!  I don't think our kids are going to get tired of doing splash day
The writing center was transformed into a space exploration center.  Our kids had lots of space words and pictures to write & draw all about their space adventures of the week.

It is always such a joy seeing learning happening through the eyes of our preschoolers.  A lot of playtime happens in our classroom, even during the summer.  We place out the materials to encourage learning and allow them to ask questions and use the tools appropriately.  We have 3 teachers in our classroom which allows for plenty of student and teacher interaction.  Throughout the day there is many small groups of playing and learning going on.  This week we counted and made space shuttles, We made planets, and aliens, stars & moons.

Each day our kiddos do arts/crafts, an outdoor game/activity (this week was SPACE YOGA), indoor activities including science, writing, math, language, and more.
At the beginning of the week we asked all of our preschoolers what they think is in space.  We heard the typical things like, Stars, the moon, planets, the sun, earth, even ALIENS!  But when we heard DINOSAURS, we rolled with it and added them to a part of our weekly activities.  We did add that in our imagination and in the land of make believe anything is possible.  That even dinosaurs can be in space for pretend  So our dinosaurs got to spend the whole week as a part of our space week.

Week 2 of Preschool Summer camp was so fun!

Summer Camp Week 1 Beach

Last week was our very first week back since Covid-19 shut down our entire state. It was so good to have our classroom filled with laughter and friends again. Many of our students had not seen other children since march when our entire world came to a screeching halt. When we returned things were far from "Normal" we are now required to do daily temperature checks, wash hands before entering the classroom, wear masks when bringing the children into the preschool, and more. Not surprisingly our preschool kiddos have went along with everything just fine. Not even questing one new procedure. They are all happy to be back with friends and the new routine.

Preschool summer camp is officially in action and the first week was all about the BEACH.  I don't know about you or your kiddos but I am for sure missing the beach this year!  We were supposed to be leaving today to go on a 8 day cruise to the Eastern Caribbean.  But due to the Covid-19 pandemic and all of the yucky-ness going on that has been postponed for a few years.  We will resume traveling once it is safe and the pandemic is controlled.     Our favorite day of the week is Tuesday AND Friday because it is SPLASH day!  We love the water!  It gets hot in Texas so cooling off in the sprinkler and water tables is just what we need on a hot summer day. This week we observed Sea shells, and had splash day.  We learned about sand and water animals.  We spent a lot of time getting back into the routine of our classroom and worked hard on getting back into appropriate classroom behavior...like using walking feet, and inside voices.  We spent so much time at home we forgot all about those special inside voices!

We have had a busy last couple of weeks!  It has been extremely stormy and rainy here in our area, so we have been spending a lot of time outdoors enjoying the fresh air when it isn't raining or storming.

We have been learning all about dinosaurs.  Math & language, Sight words & more all using this fun theme!

One of the highlights of the week was watching the workers putting on a new roof across the street.  This lead to a lot of questions and even more answers.
We have enjoyed using bubble wrap to make prints for our dinosaur skin, we've made puppets, and did a dinosaur dig!

One of the things I love about working with preschoolers is all of the fun games that we play to incorporate everyday learning activities.  We have done matching, and counting, pretend play, and even pretended to be dinos!

Earth day was a blast!  It's always fun to celebrate our earth and make a few fun crafts & treats that represent our beautiful planet.

Friday was our Spring Family Field Trip!!!  The highlight of each school year!  Where our parents attend with their little ones for a fun adventure to a kid friendly location.  This year was the Dallas Children's Aquarium.  We were supposed to go the Dallas Zoo for the dino exhibit, but sadly the weather wasn't forecasted to cooperate.

The aquarium was so cute and perfect for our preschool aged group.  Their favorite part was touching the sting rays & Checking out the huge tank with the turtle.
It was a fun day!!!

Easter Fun *April 15-19 *2019*

It has been a long while since I have blogged about my preschool class, but I will just pick right up like I have been doing it all along.  I post daily on social media, but so many parents do not have any social media, I want them to get a chance to see their little ones and the fun activities that we are up to.
This week we celebrated 2 birthdays with a fun Mermaid party.  Unfortunately here in Texas it has been pretty rainy and stormy lately.  We ended up having to have our Easter Egg Hunt indoors due to the weather, but it was still so fun.

Clouds, & Rhyming Freebie (March 5-9)

This was such a great week!  We have been working on Rhyming!  And goodness I have such a smart class.  They caught on so fast.  I would throw out a word and they would throw back a word that perfectly rhymed.  It wasn't even something that we had practiced in the past.  We have read books that rhymed, but we haven't formally practiced rhyming.   They have been doing fantastic.  For my readers that aren't familiar I have a class that is roughly ages 3-5.  I have a couple of 2's, but mostly 3-5's.  and boy are they some smart cookies!

Since we worked on Rhyming I whipped up some fun and colorful cards for matching that we used this week.  We played memory, we matched them together, we used them at circle time with a fun little poem that I created. And we also just named the picture and words that we saw on the cards.  Pick up your free download below and print it out so that you can use it with your kiddos.

The link to this fun little rhyming cards are right here ---->>>Click Here FREE DOWNLOAD
You can use these cute little Rhyming cards in your classroom (like I did) or at home with your preschool aged child or toddler.  If you are doing home preschool and just want to practice rhyming.

Of course we had plenty of playtime!  Because we ARE kids and we learn best through play and it's just plain FUN!  The light bright has been the hit the last couple of weeks and it hasn't been put into storage yet.  As long as it is a hit we will keep it into our rotation.

Spring is here!  And the kids have discovered ROLLY POLLIES!!!  They have been bringing them to us by the drones.  Those and Dandelions.  We are good on those 2 things until next spring.  But we love to see them exploring the outdoors and collecting and learning about the environment that nature has provided us.  We have also discovered a few frogs and a garden snake.  It has been a active spring so far.

We did a pretty amazing cloud experiment!  We spent all last week learning about clouds.  All of our kiddos learned that a cloud is a bunch of tiny water droplets grouped together.  We warmed a bar of Ivory soap in the microwave for about 2 min. in a microwave safe dish and it puffed up into a soft fluffy cloud looking substance.

Each of our students got a chance to see the soap before the process, feel, and smell the soap and predict what would happen.  They also all got a chance to see the process during the microwaving.

ONLY 1 child took a bite of the soap!  And it was pretty amazing to hear their predictions and see the reactions on their faces!

It was such a fun fun week!  We took a walk to the park since the weather was so beautiful.  Here is our selfie. (I am horrible at taking selfies)

The kids had a great time!

Have a happy weekend rest of your weekend! (Even though its already Sunday evening...Yikes!)
